Overview

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring for entry-level roles across data and software tracks. This position targets early-career candidates for entry-level Data Scientist, AI Engineer, and Junior Java Developer paths. The role supports full-time opportunities with remote (telecommute) work options for candidates located in California.

What You’ll Do

You may be asked to contribute across one or more of the following areas depending on the role track:

• Work on data analysis, model development, or ML pipelines for production use (Data Scientist / AI Engineer track).
• Build backend services, APIs, or Java-based modules and help integrate them into full-stack systems (Junior Java Developer track).
• Write clean, testable code and participate in code reviews and agile team rituals.
• Collaborate with engineers and product owners to turn project requirements into working features.
• Create clear project narratives that explain what you built, why it matters, and how it works.
• Support data ingestion, ETL/pipeline design, and basic data engineering tasks when needed.
• Participate in mock interviews and coaching sessions to strengthen technical communication and problem-solving under time constraints.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, applicants should have a combination of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience with at least one programming language used on the team (Java or Python preferred).
• Basic understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
• Familiarity with SQL and working with relational databases.
• Ability to explain projects clearly: scope, architecture, trade-offs, and outcomes.
• Comfortable with remote collaboration tools and distributed teams.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience or coursework in machine learning, model evaluation, and data pipelines.
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs, cloud services, or DevOps practices.
• Projects or internships demonstrating end-to-end systems, not just toy examples.
• Prior participation in technical interviews, coding challenges, or mock interviews.
• Exposure to full-stack development or Java-based backend systems.

Compensation & Employment Details

• Employment type: FULL_TIME.
• Location: California (remote/telecommute options available).
• Salary range (reported by the employer): USD 82,000 – 145,000 per year. Exact pay will depend on experience, role track, and other factors consistent with California pay transparency requirements.
