About the Role
This entry-level Control Systems Engineer position (Associate level) supports industrial automation projects in automation, controls, and instrumentation. You will work on multi-disciplinary teams to design, program, commission, and support PLC, DCS, HMI and SCADA systems for manufacturing, life sciences, chemical, aerospace and related facilities. The role is based in Portland, OR and requires occasional travel to client sites.
What You’ll Do
- Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria across varied industrial projects
- Support control system testing, equipment commissioning, and field testing activities
- Gather field information and perform site surveys to inform system designs
- Plan, design, program, and upgrade PLC, DCS, HMI and SCADA systems
- Develop drawings, specifications, and equipment layouts for construction and installation
- Assist with equipment selection, cost estimating, and vendor coordination
- Travel to client sites as needed (up to ~20% annually)
Who You Are / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
- 0–2 years of relevant experience in PLC programming and HMI/SCADA configuration (internships or co-ops count)
- Comfortable using software tools such as AutoCAD; proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Self-starter with curiosity, strong work ethic, and problem-solving ability
- Willingness to travel to client sites (up to 20% of the year)
