Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Entry Level Construction Project Engineer to support structural steel work on a large hyperscale data center construction project in Mooresville, IN. This role combines hands-on Quality Control (QC) inspection with Project/Field Engineering support. The assignment is onsite, full time, contract-based, and offers significant overtime and a clear path to increased responsibility.


What You’ll Do

  • Perform field quality inspections to verify structural steel and related work meet drawings, specifications, and project quality standards
  • Track, document, and support resolution of construction quality issues from identification to closure
  • Maintain organized quality records, including inspection reports, photographs, logs, and related documentation
  • Assist with RFIs, submittals, material tracking logs, drawing updates, and project correspondence
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to support field execution
  • Track punch list items and corrective actions to completion with appropriate documentation
  • Coordinate daily with Project Managers, Superintendents, field crews, inspectors, and third-party testing agencies
  • Act as a liaison between field personnel and project management to ensure timely communication
  • Support field teams with construction technology platforms and document control systems (Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, etc.)
  • Participate in quality meetings, field walks, coordination meetings, and project planning
  • Monitor project issues and communicate potential impacts before they affect schedule or quality
  • Support routine reporting requirements including progress, quality, and issue tracking updates
  • Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day coordination and problem resolution
  • Learn project processes and systems quickly and assume increasing responsibility over time

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic construction experience or related education
  • Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Experience with data tracking, recordkeeping, or project documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple documentation streams
  • Clear, professional communication skills with field personnel and stakeholders
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in an active construction environment
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen
  • Willingness and ability to work an anticipated schedule of approximately 58–60 hours per week
  • Residence in or near central Indiana with ability to commute to the project site without per diem

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field
  • 0–3 years construction experience; recent graduates encouraged to apply
  • Structural steel construction or QC/QA experience
  • Project Engineer or Field Engineer experience
  • Experience with Bluebeam for markups and drawing review
  • Experience with Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar platforms
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, material tracking, punch lists, inspections, and project closeout

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Full-time, onsite at a large hyperscale data center construction site in Mooresville, IN
  • Primary work locations: on-site construction trailer and field inspection areas
  • Typical schedule: five 10-hour weekdays plus one 8-hour Saturday (significant overtime possible)
  • Regular outdoor exposure and movement between trailer, field, and inspection locations
  • Emphasis on safety, quality, and team collaboration

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour (final pay within this range depends on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors)
  • This is a contract position; benefits eligibility may vary by classification and duration
