What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an Entry‑Level Construction Engineer to support transportation construction projects in Chicago, IL. This hands‑on role focuses on construction management tasks in the field and project documentation to ensure work is completed per contract and Illinois DOT guidelines.
- Report to and support the Project Engineer (PE)
- Perform daily surveillance and inspections to verify contractor work follows contract documents and approved shop drawings
- Prepare daily construction reports documenting workforce, activities, crew size, and equipment on site
- Maintain regular status reports and accurate record drawings
- Capture and organize progress photographs and support contractor quality control documentation
- Confirm contractor submittals and documentation; report and document field conditions that deviate from the contract
- Communicate progress and issues to the Project Engineer and project team in a timely manner
What We’re Looking For
This is an entry‑level position for someone motivated to learn on the job, with strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and deliver accurate, timely work products
- Authorization to work in the United States without need for visa sponsorship now or in the future
Ideally, candidates will also have one or more of the following:
- Experience with Bluebeam or similar web-based collaboration tools
- Experience on Illinois DOT projects
- OSHA 10 certification
- CAD experience and/or GPS survey experience

Compensation
- Estimated base pay: $34,066 per year (estimated). Exact compensation will be provided by the hiring organization and may vary based on experience and qualifications.
