What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an Entry‑Level Computer Scientist to join a Sensor Research & Analysis team supporting air and missile defense programs. You will work in a high-fidelity modeling & simulation (M&S) environment to set up, test, analyze, and evaluate radar and weapon system performance. This role is for a 2027 start (January or following Spring graduation).
- Support M&S configuration, testing, and data analysis of radar and weapon systems to determine performance and limitations.
- Run experiments, collect and validate data, and analyze results to produce actionable conclusions.
- Develop algorithms, scripts, and analysis tools (primarily in Python) to automate data processing and modeling tasks.
- Prepare and deliver clear technical briefings, written analysis, and demonstrations for program stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with scientists, engineers, and analysts to solve novel and complex problems.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support M&S configuration, testing, and data analysis activities for radar and weapon-system performance.
- Perform mathematical and statistical analysis to support modeling results and recommendations.
- Design and implement analysis workflows and small-scale simulation experiments.
- Create technical artifacts: reports, slides, briefings, and demonstrations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and document analytic processes and findings.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an ABET‑accredited institution in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Foundational knowledge of C++.
- Experience with computer programming, algorithm development, or analytical software tools.
- Ability to analyze datasets and extract statistically relevant insight.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- Ability to work onsite in the North Alabama area (Triana/Huntsville region) upon start.
Preferred Qualifications
- Computer science–related internship or project experience.
- Experience with radar, air/missile defense systems, or relevant M&S analysis.
- Experience developing software in C++.
- Experience with MATLAB, scientific computing, or modeling tools.
- Familiarity with Linux environments (e.g., Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
Compensation
- Pay Range: $57,850 — $104,575 per year (range provided by the client).
- Estimated midpoint compensation shown on some sources: ~$68,988 per year (estimate only).
Note: Actual compensation offered will be based on experience, education, skills, and internal equity.
Location & Clearance
- Location: Triana, AL (North Alabama area) — onsite work expected at start.
- Clearance: No clearance required to start, but ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance is required.
- Citizenship: U.S. citizenship is required.
