What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an Entry-Level Computer Scientist to join a Sensor Research and Analysis team supporting missile and air defense programs. You will work in a high-fidelity modeling & simulation (M&S) environment to set up, test, analyze, and evaluate radar and weapon system performance. This is an early-career role designed for recent graduates or candidates starting in 2027 who are motivated to apply strong programming and analytical skills to defense-related M&S problems.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support M&S configuration, testing, and data analysis activities for radar and weapon systems to determine performance capabilities
• Run simulations, validate models, and analyze outputs to produce actionable results
• Develop scripts, tools, and analytic workflows to automate data processing and visualization
• Demonstrate strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills in producing analysis products and briefings
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to find solutions to novel and complex technical questions
• Prepare and deliver analysis results, technical briefings, and demonstrations to program stakeholders

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field from an ABET‑accredited institution
• Strong proficiency in Python
• Foundational knowledge of C++
• Experience with computer programming, algorithm development, or analytical software tools
• Ability to analyze data sets and derive statistically relevant insights
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
• Ability to work onsite in the North Alabama area upon start

Preferred Qualifications

• Computer-science related internship or project experience
• Experience with radar or air/missile defense systems modeling, simulation, analysis, development, or integration
• Experience developing software in C++
• Experience with MATLAB, modeling tools, or scientific computing environments
• Familiarity with Linux (e.g., Red Hat Enterprise Linux)

Compensation & Employment Type

• Pay range: $57,850 — $104,575 per year (provided by the client)
• Employment type: Contract, Full time

Location & Clearance

• Work location: Huntsville, AL (North Alabama area) — onsite work required at start
• Clearance: No clearance required to begin, but ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance is required
