Confidential Client is hiring an Entry‑Level Community Planner to support general plan and zoning work, housing elements, CEQA compliance, and community engagement across California. This is an early‑career role ideal for recent graduates or professionals with internship experience who want hands‑on exposure to planning, land use, and environmental review. The position is full‑time (with contractor classification included per source) and offers a salary range of $60,000–$75,000 plus benefits.

What You’ll Do

Confidential Client’s project teams will rely on you to help deliver planning and environmental services for public- and private-sector clients. Typical responsibilities:

• Assist with preparation of General Plans, Community Plans, Housing Elements, Specific/Master Plans, and other comprehensive planning documents.
• Support zoning code updates, permitting policy reviews, and development standards focused on housing and community development.
• Conduct research and data analysis to inform land use, housing, transportation, and community facilities recommendations.
• Assist with CEQA documents and environmental impact analyses related to planning and development projects.
• Help plan, coordinate, and facilitate public meetings, workshops, and stakeholder outreach activities.
• Review project plans and proposals for consistency with local codes, policies, and plans.
• Perform site visits and field data collection to support project deliverables.
• Track project tasks, schedules, and deliverables to assist project managers in keeping work on time and on budget.
• Provide additional planning, research, and drafting support across multidisciplinary project teams as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

Minimum qualifications and core skills we look for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to contribute to technical documents and present findings.
• Collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn from experienced planners and multidisciplinary teams.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
• Demonstrated interest in land use planning, community development, housing policy, and environmental compliance (including CEQA).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability and willingness to travel locally for project needs and conduct occasional site visits.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

• Academic, internship, or professional experience in community planning, land use, housing, or environmental planning.
• Familiarity with General Plans, Specific Plans, Housing Elements, or zoning codes.

Work Location & Schedule

• This role may be offered as a hybrid arrangement (office + remote) depending on business needs.
• Eligible office locations include Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.
• Candidates who live within approximately 50 miles of a Confidential Client office may be prioritized.
