Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an Entry Level Commercial Credit Analyst to join their Commercial Credit team in Paramus, NJ. This role supports underwriting and ongoing monitoring of commercial credit relationships by performing financial analysis, identifying credit risks, and preparing portions of credit write-ups used in approval decisions and portfolio management.
What You’ll Do
You will work with senior credit professionals and relationship managers to underwrite new credits, monitor existing loan portfolios, and maintain accurate credit documentation and risk ratings.
- Facilitate credit requests and material loan modifications from initial screening through approval and for the life of the loan
- Conduct continuous credit monitoring (annual reviews, interim updates, covenant monitoring, early warning indicators)
- Review financial statements, tax returns, appraisals, credit reports, due diligence, industry research and other relevant materials
- Prepare credit analyses and written assessments that include risk ratings, risk mitigants, industry/market trends and financial trends
- Build financial projections, cash flow models, collateral schedules and covenant sensitivity analyses
- Recommend appropriate loan structure and risk ratings based on downside and base case scenarios
- Enter accurate data into bank systems and support underwriting and portfolio management workflows
- Participate in client calls and credit committee discussions; present analysis and respond to questions
- Monitor compliance with commercial credit policy and applicable operational controls
- Identify suspicious or adverse activity that may affect credit quality
- Contribute to a team environment that supports inclusion and the client’s brand values
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field — OR a combined minimum of 5 years of higher education and/or work experience
- At least 1 year of experience in commercial credit, public accounting, financial statement preparation/analysis, or other financial analysis
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to work independently and on a team
- Customer-focused with strong interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel required)
Preferred Experience & Tools
- Experience with Capital IQ, FactSet, Bloomberg or similar market/data tools
- Prior exposure to loan underwriting systems, credit scorecards, and portfolio monitoring programs
- Familiarity with commercial loan structure, covenants and guarantor analysis
Compensation & Location
- Pay range: $75,900 - $126,500 Annual (USD)
- Location: Paramus, NJ (onsite or hybrid as determined by the client)
- Final pay will be based on the candidate’s experience, skills and internal equity practices.
