Overview
Confidential Client is recruiting an Entry-Level Civil/Highway Engineer to join their transportation design group, based in Elkins Park, PA. This is an early-career opportunity focused on highway and roadway design, 3D modeling, and construction document preparation. The hire will work on small- to large-scale highway projects (rehabilitation, intersection improvements, widening/reconstruction) as part of a multidisciplinary design team.
What You’ll Do
- Support roadway and highway design tasks under the supervision of a Project Engineer
- Obtain and review existing information, perform limited field/site investigations
- Produce technical calculations that advance project design (horizontal/vertical geometry, pavement design)
- Assist with intersection and interchange design, signing & pavement marking plans, traffic control/staging
- Develop 3D models using tools such as Bentley OpenRoads Designer or Autodesk Civil 3D
- Contribute to technical reports, specifications, and construction documents
- Perform work to meet agreed-upon budget and schedule targets
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
- Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship (no visa sponsorship available)
- Ability to attend in-person Day 1 onboarding at a regional office as a condition of employment
Preferred Qualifications
- Some experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, OpenRoads, or similar civil engineering software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or ability to take it within 6 months
- Internship or prior experience with engineering firms, contractors, or DOTs on transportation/highway projects
