Role Overview
This entry-level Civil/Environmental Engineer role (up to ~5 years' experience) will support water resources and transportation projects for a Confidential Client based in Pittsburgh, PA. You'll contribute to design, permitting, field work, and construction inspection on municipal water, wastewater, stormwater, and transportation infrastructure projects.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for water and wastewater systems, municipal water, sewer, stormwater, highway, bridge, roadway, and airport projects
- Support both field and office assignments, including site visits and construction observation
- Conduct environmental sampling and prepare technical reports
- Prepare permit applications (PADEP, Army Corps, PennDOT, City of Pittsburgh)
- Produce technical writing deliverables: reports, memos, and permit documentation
- Perform construction inspections and assist with as-built documentation
- Use engineering software for modeling and mapping (HEC‑RAS, HydroCAD, GIS)
- Apply CAD tools (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation) to develop plans and details
What We’re Looking For (Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil or Environmental Engineering preferred
- E.I.T. preferred or willingness to pursue licensure
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a positive, professional attitude
- Strong attention to detail, time-management, and organizational skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable operating field instrumentation (water-quality equipment, GPS)
- Competency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
- Experience with site grading, site design, and permitting processes
- Familiarity with HEC‑RAS, HydroCAD, or other water-resources modeling tools
- GIS experience is a plus
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Previous internship or project experience in water resources or transportation engineering
- Experience preparing permit applications for PADEP, Army Corps, PennDOT, or local municipal authorities
- Construction inspection experience or familiarity with construction contract documents
