Position overview

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring an Entry-level Civil Engineer – Transportation to join their Madison, WI transportation team. This full-time role blends design and construction support for roadway and bridge projects, using AutoCAD/Civil 3D and working with public agencies and contractors. This posting is for candidates within or willing to relocate to Madison, WI.


What you’ll do

You will support project teams on transportation design and construction engineering tasks under the supervision of a Project Manager:

  • Perform design engineering using AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
  • Prepare design documents: reports, quantity calculations, plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate with public agencies and attend project meetings.
  • Build effective working relationships with clients and project teams.
  • Perform construction engineering tasks: field layout, quantity measurement, record keeping, materials testing, and inspection for WisDOT and local road/bridge projects.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in transportation, roadway design, or construction.
  • 0–4 years of related engineering experience (entry-level to early-career candidates welcome).
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Self-motivated team player with strong written and verbal communication.

Desired skills & certifications

  • Passed (or in progress) Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Experience with Civil 3D and/or AutoCAD.
  • Experience on highway and bridge projects (WisDOT Facility Development Process is a plus).
  • Construction observation/administration experience.

Location & travel
