Position overview
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is recruiting an Entry-Level Civil Engineer for a transportation-focused role based in Staples Mill, VA. This opportunity includes participation in an invitation-only hiring event and is intended for candidates available to start in Summer 2027. The role emphasizes bridge, tunnel, and transit structure design and will support multi-discipline project teams from concept through construction. This is a full-time, hybrid role.
What you’ll do
- Contribute to design of new bridges and transit structures
- Support bridge rehabilitation projects, including development of maintenance and repair plans
- Perform load ratings and bridge/tunnel inspection evaluations
- Provide tunnel engineering support and structural analysis input
- Prepare construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules
- Communicate technical information clearly to project teams and stakeholders
- Participate in early-career development programs and training opportunities
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- U.S. Citizenship required due to the nature of the work
- Willingness to start in Summer 2027 and attend in-person onboarding as required
- Ability to work in a hybrid model based in Staples Mill, VA
Preferred qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) registration
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills
- Familiarity with highway, bridge and tunnel engineering
- Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, MS Office, and structural analysis software
- Master’s degree or internship experience is a plus
- Detail-oriented, good problem-solving skills, and professional interpersonal demeanor
- Flexibility to work occasional alternate schedules or short-notice assignments
Compensation & additional details
- Salary range: USD 75,000 — USD 82,000 per year (provided by the client)

- All newly hired employees must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at a client office as a condition of employment
