Role overview

Confidential Client is seeking an Entry Level Civil Engineer (Rail Track) to join their rail track team in Omaha, NE. This early-career engineering role supports track and civil design, plan production, project coordination, and fieldwork as needed. The position provides mentorship from senior staff, exposure to design and modeling tools, and opportunities for professional development (including support for Engineer Intern (EI) certification).


What You’ll Do

  • Assist with track and civil design tasks using standard engineering techniques and established methods.
  • Produce entry-level plans and CAD/modeling deliverables under supervision.
  • Support project execution activities including quality-control reviews, scheduling, and estimating.
  • Help assemble technical reports and research site-specific requirements and regulations.
  • Coordinate with technical team members and contribute to business development and marketing efforts when needed.
  • Receive guidance from senior engineers on calculations, project schedules, and design decisions.
  • Mentor or answer routine questions from student interns when applicable.
  • Travel to project sites as required and perform work in varied terrain and weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain an Engineer Intern (EI) certificate.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong analytical and advanced mathematical skills.
  • Ability to research and interpret applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Working knowledge (or willingness to become proficient) in relevant engineering software and modeling tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Passion for collaborative work and delivering positive community impact.

Work type & Compensation

  • Employment type: Full-time (Contractor engagement details may apply per client needs).
  • Estimated pay (as posted): $58,268 per year (estimated). This listing reflects the employer-provided estimate.
