About the Role
Confidential Client is hiring an Entry Level Civil Engineer (Rail Terminal / Intermodal) in Omaha, NE. This is an entry-level assistant engineer role focused on rail terminal and intermodal civil design, plan production, and supporting project delivery under senior guidance. The role may include occasional travel to project sites and opportunities to support business development activities.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with terminal and civil design tasks using established engineering methods.
- Produce entry-level plans and drawings with clear instructions from senior staff.
- Support project schedules, estimating, and quality-control reviews.
- Learn and use design and modeling software; develop proficiency in project tools.
- Prepare research and technical documentation to support reports and deliverables.
- Coordinate with technical staff and contribute to efficient project execution.
- Mentor or support student interns on routine assignments when applicable.
- Travel to project sites in varying terrain and weather as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Must possess, or be able to obtain, an Engineer Intern (EI) certificate.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to research and apply relevant regulations and standards.
- Strong mathematical and analytical aptitude.
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
Skills & Tools
- Willingness to learn or existing experience with MicroStation.
- Familiarity with OpenRail and InRoads is a plus, or ability to become proficient.
- Interest in rail terminal/intermodal engineering and consulting project delivery.
- Collaborative mindset and ownership of assigned tasks.
