What You’ll Do
Mechanical Systems Engineering at our confidential client is seeking an Entry Level Civil Engineer to support preventative maintenance, emergent repairs, and renovation projects for facility systems and infrastructure at the Niskayuna site. This role combines fieldwork and office-based engineering tasks.
- Perform civil and structural evaluations for roadway work, underground utilities, roofing, and siding.
- Support utility identification and mapping for evacuations and maintenance.
- Assist with recapitalization and renovation projects: concept designs, evaluations, contract documents, construction cost estimates, and project follow-through.
- Conduct inspections and assessments of existing structures and site utilities; document findings and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare technical reports, construction specifications, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, construction crews, and facilities personnel.
- Support emergent maintenance and operations issues on short notice as needed.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum required qualifications — candidates must meet all listed requirements to be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering/science field from an accredited college or university; OR Master’s degree in a related field.
- Entry-level candidates with internship or co-op experience in construction, facilities, or related civil engineering work are encouraged to apply.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare clear technical reports.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience preparing technical documents.
- Willingness to split time between on-site field work and office tasks.
Preferred Skills
These skills will help you hit the ground running but are not strictly required.
- Internship or prior hands-on experience with construction, civil/site engineering, or facilities engineering.
- Familiarity with federal and state engineering codes and standards.
- Basic knowledge of structural analysis and inspection techniques.
- Experience performing condition assessments for roofing, siding, underground utilities, and other building components.
- Ability to coordinate across multiple project teams and contractors.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $63,900 — $97,800 per year (range provided by the confidential client; final salary dependent on experience and qualifications).
