Overview

Confidential client is hiring an Entry‑Level Civil Engineer in Missoula, MT. This role is an excellent opportunity to start your civil engineering career working on municipal infrastructure, site development, roadways, stormwater, water systems, and airport projects. You will work under the guidance of licensed engineers, gain hands-on design and field experience, and support projects from concept through construction.


What You’ll Do

You will join multidisciplinary project teams to support planning, design, and delivery of civil infrastructure projects. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with project teams to understand project goals and technical requirements
  • Use civil engineering design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, or similar) to draft plans and develop design documents
  • Prepare calculations, technical reports, and supporting documentation for engineering analyses
  • Contribute to development of plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction documents
  • Assist in construction administration: review submittals, document progress, and perform field observations
  • Participate in site visits and learn construction methods to help ensure design intent is met
  • Apply engineering principles to evaluate alternatives and recommend practical solutions
  • Maintain organized project files and meet deadlines to support positive client outcomes
  • Follow quality, safety, and regulatory requirements on all work

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering technology, or equivalent ABET‑accredited program
  • 0–3+ years of experience with civil engineering design and construction projects (internships and co‑ops count)
  • Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) designation preferred — or willingness to obtain after hire
  • Experience or exposure to AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, or similar civil design tools
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and sound engineering judgment
  • Client‑service mindset with ability to communicate and build relationships
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record for periodic travel
