What You’ll Do

• Perform entry-level structural design, inspection, and field work (no prior experience required for routine tasks).
• Support sign structure inspections and bridge inspections, including field data collection and reporting.
• Assist with inspection and assessment report preparation and documentation.
• Support data collection, modeling, and load-rating analyses to evaluate structural performance and compliance with safety standards.
• Prepare design computations and quantity estimates for projects.
• Use computer-assisted engineering and design software to produce calculation packages and design drawings.
• Coordinate with project managers on workload, scope changes, and needed services.
• Provide guidance to draftspersons/technicians on drawings, data entry, and report preparation.
• Attend meetings or events outside normal working hours when needed; engage with clients on a limited basis.
• Follow and promote safety procedures and best practices on-site and in the office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four‑year university.
• 0–4 years of relevant experience (typical for entry-level).
• Engineer‑In‑Training (E.I.T.) certification, or ability to obtain within one year.
• Strong attention to detail and a desire to learn structural inspection and assessment methods.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for internal reporting and coordination.

Skills & Tools

• Familiarity with computer-assisted engineering and design software (CAD/analysis tools).
• Ability to support data collection, structural modeling, and load-rating analysis.
• Comfortable performing field inspections and preparing technical documentation.
• Active participation or interest in technical societies is a plus.
