About the Role

Confidential Client is seeking an Entry-Level Civil Engineer to join a Rail Terminal / Intermodal team. This role is ideal for a recent civil engineering graduate or early-career engineer who wants hands-on experience in terminal and civil design, project execution, and professional development under senior engineering guidance.


What You’ll Do

You will support project teams across the life cycle of rail terminal and intermodal engineering projects, including design, plan production, estimating, scheduling, and quality control. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Assist with civil and terminal design tasks using standard engineering methods
  • Produce entry-level plan sets and CAD/model deliverables under direction
  • Support technical calculations, scheduling, and estimating activities
  • Learn and apply modeling/design software (MicroStation, OpenRail, InRoads)
  • Prepare research and technical documentation to support reports and submittals
  • Participate in quality control reviews and implement feedback from senior staff
  • Support marketing and business-development efforts as needed
  • May travel to project sites and perform field work in variable conditions
  • Mentor or assist student interns with routine tasks under supervision

Qualifications

You should bring a combination of technical fundamentals, communication skills, and a willingness to learn:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Possess or be able to obtain Engineer Intern (EI) / EIT certificate
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Advanced mathematical and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of, or ability to become proficient in, MicroStation, OpenRail, and InRoads
  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required

  • Estimated salary: $56,706 per year (estimated)
