What You’ll Do
This hands‑on laboratory role supports analysis and quality verification of medical and specialty gases. You will perform routine and non‑routine testing using chromatography and spectroscopic techniques, prepare gas mixtures, document results in LIMS, and follow strict safety and quality procedures.
- Perform gas analysis for impurities using gas chromatography (GC) and spectroscopic methods (FTIR, CO analyzers).
- Connect and remove gas cylinders in ventilated cabinets, run analyses, and monitor instrument performance (cylinder hookup/removal may take up to 30 minutes per sample).
- Operate and perform basic maintenance and calibration on GC/GCP‑type systems using Galaxy/Compass GC control software.
- Record, review, and upload analytical results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Prepare medical and specialty gas mixtures and pure gases via partial pressure and gravimetric techniques, per written procedures.
- Test and certify incoming raw materials and process finished cylinders for shipment (labeling, valve prep, certificates of analysis).
- Maintain complete quality control documentation consistent with internal policies and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Follow required safety training, wear appropriate PPE, and use ventilated cabinets and gas‑handling systems to minimize exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- Troubleshoot basic analytical issues using chromatography knowledge (peak characteristics, instrument control).
- Work as part of a production/laboratory team and communicate findings clearly.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering OR a minimum of 2 years’ hands‑on analytical laboratory experience.
- Experience or familiarity with chromatography‑based analyses and operation of GC systems.
