What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an Entry Level Chemical Technician to support paint detackification and chemical handling operations at a manufacturing site that produces automotive components. This is a hands-on, onsite manufacturing role focused on process testing, basic chemical adjustments, equipment monitoring, and routine maintenance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform routine chemical tests, record results, and support process chemistry adjustments to maintain system performance.
  • Operate and monitor chemical pumping and control systems; safely move drums/totes using drum dollies.
  • Optimize and monitor separation equipment and process flows to assist in paint/waste removal.
  • Conduct daily washer checks and titrations (5-stage) at the Montgomery, AL location.
  • Assist with minor repairs to chemical feed pumps and application equipment.
  • Track and document chemical usage to support inventory and cost control.
  • Follow safety procedures and use required PPE; maintain clean and safe work areas.

Qualifications

Education & experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or closely related field.
  • 0–3 years of relevant experience; this is an entry-level role (applicants with more than 3 years’ experience are not preferred).

Skills & abilities:

  • Basic lab / chemical testing skills and familiarity with titration/jar testing.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform light equipment maintenance.
  • Solid computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic problem-solving/root cause analysis.
  • Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to follow safety procedures for chemical handling and manufacturing environments.

Work Environment & Logistics

  • Work location: Onsite at 1391 Mitchell Young Road (Montgomery / Dannelly area), Montgomery, AL 36108.
  • Shift: Day shift (approx. 3:00 AM – 12:00 PM).
  • Employment type: Contract / Full-time (onsite).
  • Physical demands: Must be able to stand for extended periods, move drums/totes, and perform physically demanding tasks on the manufacturing floor.
  • PPE: Steel-toed shoes/boots, eye & ear protection, face shields, apron, chemical-resistant gloves. Candidates are expected to obtain their own steel-toed footwear (neither Careertakes nor the client will provide this expense).

Note: This position can be messy and requires candidates comfortable working in active manufacturing/chemical handling environments.
