What You’ll Do
This entry-level Calibration Engineer role is a hands-on position that supports vehicle and propulsion system development at the Milford Proving Ground. You will help turn engineering requirements into verified vehicle performance by working with vehicle systems, controls, software, hardware, and test data.
- Perform in-vehicle calibration and testing across labs, dynos, benches, and on-road/closed-course environments.
- Analyze data from driving maneuvers, simulations, dyno runs, and lab tests to inform tuning decisions.
- Develop and optimize calibrations to meet performance, diagnostics, timing, and robustness targets using established calibration processes.
- Troubleshoot vehicle, controls, hardware, and software issues and support root-cause analysis.
- Coordinate calibration activities with lead calibrators, diagnostic strategists, and cross-functional teams.
- Review calibrations and test results for quality and consistency.
- Support development vehicle fleets through testing, data collection, and issue resolution.
- Contribute to controls working groups, refine algorithms, and translate requirements into test cases.
- Identify and help implement opportunities to automate or virtualize calibration and verification activities.
- Follow all safety procedures and document findings in tracking systems (e.g., problem-resolution tools).
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing or holding a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
- Expected graduation between Dec 2026 and June 2027.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week).
- Must be able to work in southeast Michigan and regularly report to Milford, MI (hybrid schedule with on-site presence required).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with propulsion systems, vehicle controls, software development, or vehicle integration.
- Proficiency in MATLAB and experience with data acquisition and analysis.
- Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Python, Autobot).
- Strong technical writing skills (engineering evaluation reports).
- Automotive-related hands-on experience through Formula SAE, EcoCAR, collegiate projects, or similar programs.
Work Arrangement & Location
- Work arrangement: Hybrid — minimum on-site presence expected at Milford, MI (Milford Proving Ground) per business needs; development trips and onsite program evaluations required.
- Must be able to work in southeast Michigan.
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated pay: $89,104 per year (estimated).
