Position overview

Confidential Client, a well-established multi‑billion dollar manufacturing organization near Plainfield, IN, is hiring an Entry Level Buyer to join its Supply Chain / Purchasing team. This is a direct‑hire, full‑time role for an early‑career purchasing professional with hands‑on exposure to purchase orders, supplier follow‑up, RFQs, and procurement activities.

What You’ll Do

• Manage day‑to‑day purchasing tasks: create, issue, and track purchase orders; confirm delivery dates; and follow up with suppliers to resolve pricing, delivery, or quality issues.
• Monitor supplier performance using KPIs (on‑time delivery, rejection rates, late shipments, vendor compliance) and escalate issues when needed.
• Support cost‑reduction initiatives by identifying opportunities and contributing to supplier negotiations.
• Assist with Request for Quotation (RFQ) activities: distribute RFQs, collect and analyze bids, perform pricing comparisons, and summarize results for senior buyers.
• Collaborate with Operations, Inventory, and Quality teams to ensure uninterrupted production and accurate materials availability.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and prepare basic reports for the purchasing team.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• 1–5 years of relevant experience in purchasing, procurement, materials buying, supplier follow‑up, purchase order processing, or RFQ support. Candidates with internship/co‑op experience performing purchasing duties may be considered.
• Familiarity or exposure to RFQ processes, vendor negotiations, cost analysis, sourcing, or purchase order workflows.
• Working knowledge of ERP or MRP systems is a plus; coursework or hands‑on exposure is acceptable.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for tracking purchasing data, pricing comparisons, and simple reporting.
• Strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in manufacturing or automotive supply chain environments.
• Coursework or experience in inventory control, operations management, or procurement analytics.

Compensation

• Estimated annual pay (as listed in source): $59,115 (estimated). Actual compensation will be determined by Confidential Client based on experience and qualifications and in accordance with applicable law.
