What You’ll Do
This opportunity is for an Entry‑Level Biologist supporting environmental planning and permitting projects across the Southeast United States. You will join an interdisciplinary team and gain hands‑on field, technical reporting, and permitting experience.
- Assist lead biologists/scientists with wetland, plant, wildlife, intertidal, nearshore marine, and upland habitat surveys.
- Collect, process, and QA field data using tablets, GPS/Trimble units, and standard data forms.
- Support preparation of ecological assessment reports, permit applications, and NEPA documents.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies on survey protocols, reporting standards, and threatened/endangered species coordination.
- Review engineering plans, aerial imagery, and GIS layers to identify potential environmental impacts.
- Conduct visual inspections of drainage facilities and support stormwater assessments.
- Participate in both fieldwork (including overnight travel as needed) and hybrid office/remote work.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and support field surveys and species/habitat assessments under supervision.
- Enter, QA/QC, and analyze field data; produce figures and maps using ESRI/ArcGIS tools.
- Contribute to technical report writing and formatting for permitting submittals.
- Learn and follow health & safety procedures for fieldwork; maintain accurate field notes and documentation.
- Communicate professionally with team members, clients, and regulatory contacts.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Environmental Studies, or related field.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
- Due to role requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Willingness and ability to perform physical fieldwork (outdoor conditions, uneven terrain) and to travel overnight.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with field data collection, technical report preparation, and environmental research.
- Knowledge of federal/state environmental laws (Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, NEPA).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with iPads/Android tablets, Trimble GPS units, and digital data collection tools.
- GIS skills using ESRI/ArcGIS (ArcMap or ArcPro); ability to produce figures and analyze spatial data.
- Safety training (CPR, OSHA, HAZWOPER) is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated professionalism.
- College transcripts (GPA) and writing samples may be requested.
Location & Work Model
This position is based in Coral Gables, FL (with possible work across Orlando, Tampa, and other Southeast locations). The role is hybrid and requires in‑office presence at least three days per week plus field assignments. Reliable transportation for site travel is required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated base salary range (from source posting): USD 48,000 – USD 65,000 per year.
- Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability, paid time off, retirement savings, and other offerings depending on employment status with the confidential client.

- The confidential client is hosting a hiring event in Coral Gables, FL (networking mixer + interviews). Exceptional candidates in other Southeast offices may also be considered.
- Relocation assistance and sponsorship for US employment authorization are not available for this position.
- All newly hired employees are required to attend an in‑person Day 1 onboarding at a client office location as a condition of employment.
