What You’ll Do
This is an entry-level Background Investigator role supporting federal background investigations for a confidential client. You will use computer-based systems and electronic tools to collect and verify information, conduct interviews, and resolve issues to determine the suitability of subjects under investigation.
- Use multiple systems and electronics tools simultaneously to conduct comprehensive interviews (Virtual Teleconference (VTC), phone, and occasional in-person) with subjects, employers, references, and other knowledgeable sources.
- Review public and official records and supporting documentation to corroborate interview findings.
- Resolve material issues in cases by identifying, documenting, and escalating discrepancies.
- Complete accurate, timely investigative reports and case documentation consistent with federal standards.
- Attend a multiweek, intensive virtual training program followed by shadowing and mentorship with an experienced investigator.
- Travel temporarily (TDY) to other U.S. locations when required (typically short assignments up to ~2 weeks; travel percentage up to 10%).
- Maintain productivity and quality while meeting deadlines and performance expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree OR 4 years of progressive, relevant experience demonstrating increasing responsibility in problem solving, planning/organizing, and written and oral communication.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable determination based on a T5 background investigation.
- Strong sense of mission, integrity, and a professional, customer-focused attitude.
- Comfortable working with multiple technology platforms and maintaining workflow efficiency across systems.
- Reliable transportation (valid driver’s license and dependable vehicle) and willingness to travel locally or for short TDY assignments as required.
- Home office within reasonable distance to assignment areas and equipped with reliable high-speed internet (a $50/month internet stipend is provided).
- Ability to sit, type, stand, or walk for extended periods as job duties require.
- Excellent time management, prioritization skills, and strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills; able to present sensitive or complex information clearly and professionally.

- Active Top Secret clearance based on a T5 investigation.

Pay & Employment Details
- Employment Type: FULL_TIME
- This role is covered by the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCA). Pay and benefits will meet or exceed the applicable wage determination for the worker’s assigned location.
- Minimum required hourly wage (federal contractor SCA minimum for this posting): $26.07 per hour. Actual pay will vary by contract, location, job classification, experience, and other factors.
