What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level, full-time backend engineering role focused on building scalable Java-based backend systems and integrating Generative AI capabilities into production services. You will work on backend services, RESTful APIs, data storage, and AI-powered features as part of an Agile team supporting a confidential client in the IT services and consulting industry.

• Develop scalable, production-ready backend applications and services.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs using modern software engineering practices.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases and write efficient SQL.
• Apply object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms to real-world problems.
• Write clean, tested, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Participate in code reviews, unit/integration testing, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, observability/monitoring, and production deployments.
• Implement Generative AI features: RAG pipelines, embeddings, chunking, retrieval optimization, and reranking.
• Integrate LLMs and AI services into backend applications using frameworks such as Spring AI and LangChain4j.
• Collaborate with cross-functional Agile/Scrum teams across design, implementation, testing, and release.

Qualifications

We’re seeking recent graduates or early-career engineers with strong fundamentals and a willingness to grow into Java enterprise backend roles and Generative AI work.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• Strong programming fundamentals and problem-solving skills.
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
• Experience with one or more OOP languages: Java, C++, C#, Kotlin, or similar.
• Familiarity with common data structures, algorithms, and software engineering concepts.
• Basic knowledge of relational databases and SQL; familiarity with NoSQL a plus.
• Interest in and willingness to learn Generative AI, LLMs, and vector-database driven retrieval.
• Good communication, collaboration, and analytic skills.
• Ability and eagerness to transition into Java-based backend development.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $65,000 – $80,000 per year (range provided by Confidential Client; final offer will depend on experience and qualifications).
• Confidential Client is E-Verified and provides equal employment opportunities.
