Role Overview
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is seeking an Entry Level Automation Travel Engineer for a travel-first, hands-on engineering role. This is an ideal opportunity for early-career engineers (0–3 years experience) who want intensive field experience, strong technical training, and exposure to industrial automation and test systems.
What You’ll Do
You will spend most of your time onsite at customer facilities commissioning systems, troubleshooting, and delivering automated solutions. Typical responsibilities include:
- Understand and troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical systems onsite
- Develop and support controls and automation software for manufacturing and test applications
- Build automated test systems (EV battery test, aerospace/rocket test stands, turnkey test & measurement)
- Support controls programming for processing, packaging, and assembly systems
- Collaborate with multi-discipline project teams and assist senior engineers with scoping and estimating
- Track project tasks, identify risks, and communicate status to clients and internal teams
- Travel to customer sites for commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting (90%–100% travel for first 18 months)
- Grow technical and leadership skills through hands-on field work and formal training
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related field
- Minimum GPA: 3.4
- Strong fundamentals in mechanical and/or electrical engineering
- Interest in text-based programming and object-oriented concepts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Quick learner with a proactive approach to continuous improvement
- Ability and willingness to travel 90%–100% for the initial 18-month assignment (option to transition to ~30%–40% travel afterward)
- Reliable vehicle for work-related travel
ITAR requirement (follows U.S. export-control law): applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, a lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum. In addition, candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $89,000 — $101,000 USD (range provided by our client)
