What You’ll Do

Join a Confidential Client engineering team as an entry-level Controls/Automation electrical engineer focused on practical, hands-on systems work. You’ll support design and implementation of electrical and control systems across industrial and building projects — working with power distribution, PLCs/DCS, instrumentation, drives, and CAD tools. You'll deliver high-quality design documentation, coordinate with project teams, and support field startups and commissioning.

• Work with project teams to design electrical/control systems (power, PLCs, DCS, instrumentation, drives).
• Produce and revise electrical and controls drawings using CAD.
• Support testing, commissioning, and on-site startups.
• Troubleshoot control and instrumentation issues in shop and field environments.
• Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and process teams to ensure integrated system delivery.
• Follow standards and QA processes to ensure accuracy and on-time delivery.
• Communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders; escalate issues and drive them to resolution.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in development of electrical schematics, control wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Configure and test PLC/DCS code and control logic under supervision.
• Perform calculations related to power distribution and line sizing.
• Document instrument specifications and loop drawings.
• Support field technicians during installation, startups, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain accurate project files and progress records.
• Participate in continuous learning and mentorship programs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable engineering discipline.
• Entry level to 3 years of experience in controls, automation, or related electrical engineering work.
• Basic familiarity with PLCs, instrumentation, drives, and electrical power fundamentals.
• Proficiency or willingness to learn CAD tools for electrical drafting.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% for project sites and startups.
• Ability to work in office, shop, and manufacturing settings as required.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

• Internship, co-op, or hands-on experience in controls/automation, manufacturing, or industrial projects.
• Experience with PLC programming, DCS, instrument loop drawings, and motor control.
• Familiarity with drives, discrete controls, and process instrumentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; team-oriented mindset.
• Experience participating in field commissioning or equipment startups.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected base salary range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.

Physical Demands & Work Expectations

• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, walk distances, and maneuver around machinery to take measurements.
• On customer startups, ability to travel long distances by car or plane and to work extended hours (12+ hours per day) for up to 14 consecutive days.
• Strong willingness to communicate, cooperate, and build professional relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and clients.
• Maintain composure under pressure and follow established safety procedures.
