Role Overview

Confidential client is seeking an Entry-Level Construction Materials Testing & Special Inspector to support commercial, infrastructure, and transportation construction projects around Campbell, NY. This entry-level contract role provides hands-on field experience, company-sponsored certification training, and a clear career path into special inspection, materials testing, and project management.


What You’ll Do

  • Perform field inspections and testing of construction materials, including concrete, soil, asphalt, masonry, and structural steel.
  • Observe construction activities to verify compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and applicable codes.
  • Collect, label, and prepare material samples for laboratory testing.
  • Document inspection and testing activities through detailed daily reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of field observations, test results, and project documentation.
  • Prepare sketches, photos, and supporting documentation related to inspection activities.
  • Communicate findings with project managers, contractors, engineers, and clients.
  • Follow company and jobsite safety procedures at all times.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or Associate's degree.
  • Ability to work outdoors and travel to local construction sites in the Campbell, NY area.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency for reporting and documentation.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification.
  • NICET certification.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Previous construction, inspection, engineering, or materials testing experience.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and laboratory testing procedures.

Compensation & Training

  • Hourly pay range: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Entry-level candidates encouraged to apply.
  • Company-sponsored certification training and testing available.
  • One month of structured onboarding/training provided.
  • Opportunities for overtime; typical work week ranges from 40–50 hours.
  • Generally assigned to one project site per day.
  • Clear advancement path into Special Inspection, Construction Materials Testing, and Project Management roles.

Workplace & Schedule

  • Job type: Contract (onsite).
  • Workplace: Fully onsite at construction locations in and around Campbell, NY.
  • Physical requirements: frequent walking on job sites, climbing stairs, and working in varying weather conditions.
