Responsibilities
- Assist with the design and development of industrial electrical control systems and instrumentation packages.
- Create and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of material to support projects.
- Support PLC programming, troubleshooting, and system testing activities under engineer guidance.
- Assist with instrument selection, panel integration, and control system commissioning for new and existing systems.
- Perform electrical calculations and contribute to equipment specification activities.
- Support factory testing and startup activities, including functional testing of control panels and instrumentation.
- Troubleshoot electrical and controls-related issues during manufacturing, testing, and startup.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and ensure compliance with electrical standards and best practices.
- Contribute to technical documentation such as drawings, specifications, test procedures, and reports.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives for automation and controls.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Up to 2 years of experience in electrical engineering or related roles; internships and co-op experience welcomed.
- Basic understanding of electrical circuits, industrial controls, and instrumentation.
- Exposure to PLC programming via coursework, projects, or internships.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for electrical and control systems.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to work collaboratively on engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Attention to detail when creating and maintaining technical documentation.
Preferred / Additional Skills
- Experience with Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs.
- Exposure to pressure, temperature, level, and flow instrumentation.
- Familiarity with relay logic, control panels, and electrical distribution.
- Experience using AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software.
- Hands-on internship or project experience with industrial controls or automation.
- Experience contributing to root cause analyses for electrical or control system issues.
- Understanding of E&I (Instrumentation & Electrical) controls design principles.
Work Environment
- Onsite manufacturing environment with ~50 employees and a fast-paced, startup-like atmosphere.
- Regular presence on the shop floor; work includes hands-on interaction with control panels, instrumentation, and equipment.
- Environment can be physically active and may involve exposure to shop-floor conditions.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $65,000 - $85,000 per year. Actual offer within this range will depend on qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.
