This role is designed for someone who wants to accelerate technical skills through practical work and close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineers and designers.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to integrated systems work: energy storage, thermal solutions, power electronics, PCBs, wiring — hands-on assembly and bench testing.
- Assist in prototype builds and move designs toward production-ready hardware under engineer guidance.
- Support rapid prototyping cycles: help identify issues, support debugging and iterative improvements on tight timelines.
- Help prepare components for volume manufacturing and perform basic shop work and quality checks.
- Occasionally support customer-facing hardware demonstrations and capture feedback to inform product improvements.
- Troubleshoot and help document field issues during deployments.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong practical engineering intuition and a results-oriented, hands-on mindset.
- Ability to work with incomplete information, prioritize tasks, and close simple information gaps under supervision.
- A drive to find root causes through methodical testing and to help prevent repeat issues.
- Team-oriented: shares knowledge, supports peers, and contributes to a positive shop culture.
- Comfortable following written instructions, drawings, and standard operating procedures.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or related field; Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
- 1–2 years of experience in a technical, assembly, or shop role (professional or internship).
- Basic 3D CAD skills (any platform; SOLIDWORKS preferred) and ability to read engineering drawings (basic GD&T).
- Hands-on proficiency with oscilloscopes, HV probes, multimeters, and related diagnostic tools.
- Solid fundamentals in analog/digital electronics, power systems, and control circuits.
- Experience with root-cause failure analysis and corrective actions.
- Strong verbal and written communication and comfort with basic computer tools.
- Safety-first mindset; experience with high-voltage protocols is a plus.
- Willingness to work onsite in San Bruno, CA (5 days/week) and to support extended or weekend hours when needed.
Preferred
- Experience with manufacturing processes: sheet metal, CNC, lathe, 3D printing.
- Exposure to low/high-voltage power distribution or thermal management for batteries/electronics.
- Experience in high-reliability testing (durability/endurance).
- Familiarity with IPC 610 / 620 standards and PCBA assembly.
- Experience using JIRA, Confluence, or similar data-management tools.
- Hands-on experience with insulation testers, microscopes, wire-harness builds, and PCBA assembly.
Role Requirements & Location

- May require domestic and occasional international travel; extended and weekend hours as needed.
- Must be able to stand for long periods in a shop environment and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- All employees must provide proof of authorization to work in the U.S. within the first 3 days of employment.
- Confidential Client and Careertakes are equal-opportunity employers and comply with applicable state and federal employment laws.
