What You’ll Do

  • Assist with the structural analysis and design of structural systems (reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry and other materials) using engineering fundamentals and applicable codes and standards.
  • Develop, modify, and review structural drawings and details and coordinate structural work with other project disciplines.
  • Support project teams by preparing design concepts, engineering calculations, construction documents, reports, and final deliverables.
  • Participate in field investigations, condition assessments, and construction site visits.
  • Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, technical memoranda, and condition assessments.
  • Assist with Engineer’s Opinion of Probable Construction Cost (EOPCC) estimates and other project cost information.
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and other contractor documents during construction.
  • Research and apply codes, standards, materials, and engineering practices to support design and technical evaluations.
  • Work collaboratively with senior engineers, project managers, and other disciplines while developing technical, communication, and project management skills.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or closely related ABET-accredited discipline.
  • 0–2 years of structural engineering experience — recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Solid understanding of statics, mechanics of materials, and structural analysis fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with structural design principles and applicable design codes and standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project and construction sites as required.

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Engineer Intern (EI) certification or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Internship or co-op experience in structural engineering, construction, or consulting.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis/design software (RISA-3D, RISA Foundation, etc.).
  • Experience with Revit and/or AutoCAD.
  • Exposure to codes/standards such as ACI, AISC, ASCE, IBC.
