Position overview

Confidential Client is seeking an Engineer, Research to support firmware and software development for implantable hearing solutions. This hybrid role based in Santa Clarita, CA (onsite + flexible team-based remote work) will work with cross-functional research teams to prototype, develop, verify, and document embedded systems and software components. The role is open to candidates who have completed an engineering internship and hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field.


What you’ll do

  • Support firmware and embedded software development for cochlear implant systems and related implantable hearing technologies.
  • Contribute code and unit-tested features using C and C#/.NET under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Participate in software verification: unit testing, automated testing, and system-level testing.
  • Troubleshoot software and system issues and take part in root-cause analyses.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DSP engineers, researchers, clinicians) using version control and modern software-development practices.
  • Prepare and maintain software requirements, design documentation, engineering records, and test reports per quality-system procedures.
  • Prototype and run research experiments: data collection, analysis, and evaluation of emerging technologies.
  • Learn and apply applicable medical-device quality-system and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records consistent with internal and regulatory policies.

Who we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Completed engineering internship with hands-on embedded software experience for electronic products.
  • Strong proficiency in C and C#/.NET.
  • Familiarity with modern software architecture, version control (e.g., Git), and software-development principles.
  • Experience contributing to complex, high-quality commercial software products.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (code generation or automation) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, cross-functional team and taking ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Reliable home internet for hybrid work (recommended minimum: 200 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload).

Compensation & Employment type

  • This position is posted as CONTRACTOR and FULL_TIME (information from the source listing).
  • Pay range: $79,200 — $99,000 per year. This role is bonus eligible.
