Engineer (Queens)
The Entry-Level Engineer/CAD Designer at Confidential Client supports elevator modernization and construction projects by preparing detailed elevator layout drawings using AutoCAD and assisting with field surveys. What You’ll Do
- Prepare elevator layout and shop drawings using AutoCAD for modernization and construction projects in Queens, NY.
- Assist in creating complete drawing packages for modernization and new construction.
- Conduct and support field surveys of existing elevator equipment and hoistway conditions; incorporate field measurements and markups into drawings.
- Support permit filing packages and related documentation for local jurisdictions.
- Coordinate with engineering staff, project managers, estimators, and field supervisors to resolve dimensional and layout conflicts.
- Maintain organized drawing files, survey notes, and project documentation.
- Learn elevator-specific design standards, code requirements, and company drafting practices.
Qualifications (Required)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings.
- Good written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Willingness and ability to visit NYC job sites to assist with field surveys.
- Reliable and professional; able to work in a fast-paced construction environment.
Nice to Have / Preferred
- BIM / Revit experience.
- Experience with construction, architecture, engineering, or MEP drawings.
- Prior field survey or as-built drawing experience.
- Familiarity with NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) filing documents.
Compensation & Location
- Base salary range: $70,000–$90,000 (DOE).
- Location: Queens, NY — on-site presence / site visits in the New York City market are required as needed.
