Position overview

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Engineer or Physicist to join a Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) team in Bedford, MA. This role focuses on modeling, simulation, prototyping, and testing of PNT systems (e.g., GPS, atomic clocks, inertial guidance, software-defined radios). The position is onsite (minimum 3 days per week) and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.


Key responsibilities

  • Perform detailed modeling, simulation, and analysis of navigation and PNT system performance
  • Prototype waveforms or algorithms in software-defined radios (SDRs)
  • Test and evaluate PNT hardware in lab and field environments; analyze experimental data
  • Contribute technically to one or more projects within the PNT program
  • Produce technical reports, presentations, and reproducible analysis/code

Basic qualifications

  • Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience with a related Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field
  • Practical experience with MATLAB, Python, C++, or similar modeling/data-analysis tools
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
  • Strong technical background with familiarity in one or more of:
    • detection and estimation theory
    • waveform design, modulation theory, error control coding, information theory
    • stochastic processes, propagation, channel estimation and equalization
    • receiver design, interference cancellation, algorithm development
    • guidance, navigation, and control (GNC)

Preferred qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant field
  • Experience with field or laboratory testing equipment and data analysis
  • Familiarity with software development tools such as Git and Docker
  • Experience programming SDRs (GNURadio, C/C++) and conducting laboratory experiments
  • Demonstrated ability to develop technical reports and presentations
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret or higher clearance (preferred)

Location, work type & compensation

  • Location: Bedford, MA (on-site; minimum 3 days per week)
  • Employment type: Full-time or Contractor (per role needs)
  • Security: Requires ability to obtain/maintain U.S. Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required
  • Salary range (provided): $89,200 — $133,800 per year (midpoint: $111,500)
