Role Overview
This is an entry-level to early-career engineering role on the outage planning team supporting SPP-area transmission planning and outage coordination. Working under supervision, you will apply foundational engineering principles to analyses, coordinate routine project work, support scheduling and cost estimating, and collaborate across teams to deliver safe and reliable outcomes for our Confidential Client in the energy sector.
What You’ll Do
Technical Expertise
- Possess and apply entry-level engineering knowledge to solve well-defined technical problems with guidance from senior engineers.
- Support more complex analyses by handling defined portions of tasks and preparing technical inputs.
- Learn and follow applicable standards, codes, and regulations related to outage planning and transmission planning.
- Become familiar with relevant equipment, systems, materials, and business processes used by the team.
Leadership & Guidance
- Coordinate routine work activities and collaborate with peers to resolve engineering tasks.
- Follow established policies and procedures; work is reviewed by higher-level staff.
- Perform assigned tasks while seeking mentorship and feedback to grow technical capability.
Planning & Organization
- Provide input to project schedules and understand scheduling methods (CPM, PERT, flow charts).
- Monitor project status and recommend adjustments as directed.
- Prepare cost estimates using established guidelines and support project documentation.
Problem Solving & Initiative
- Proactively gather information and learn applicable analysis techniques.
- Apply basic analytical methods to resolve routine technical issues.
- Suggest improvements and new approaches when appropriate.
Communication & Teamwork
- Assist in preparing reports and technical documentation.
- Communicate clearly in both written and verbal formats; ask clarifying questions when needed.
- Build collaborative relationships across disciplines and departments.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required for entry-level Engineer Associate placement.
- Candidates with a Bachelor’s in Engineering Technology may meet requirements if they obtain a certified Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Passing or preparing for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is encouraged and preferred.
- Ability and willingness to learn, follow procedures, and work effectively on cross-functional teams.
- Note: Higher-level Engineer grades require additional education, experience, or certifications. VP-level exceptions may apply for non-ABET degrees.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting Salary Range (listed): $84,000
- Compensation Range (posted): $74,551.00 - $128,688.00 per year
