Role Overview

Confidential Client in the Energy, Oil & Gas industry is hiring an Engineer to support development of project scopes and cost estimates for crude oil and water gathering projects. This role works closely with estimators, project managers, engineers, and field personnel to interpret drawings, assess constructability, and prepare accurate cost estimates that support safe, on-budget project execution.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop complete, buildable project estimates from conceptual scopes.
  • Analyze scopes and drawings for scope gaps and constructability issues.
  • Prepare labor build-ups using production rates, craft hours, crew compositions, and historical data.
  • Identify risks, assumptions, and exclusions; prepare proposal clarifications.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineering, and field teams to validate installation methods and labor assumptions.
  • Support value engineering and alternative construction approaches.
  • Prepare estimate summaries, cost breakdowns, and pricing sheets for internal review.
  • Maintain cost data, unit rates, and historical production information.
  • Provide complete estimate logic, quantities, and assumptions during handoff.
  • Manage multiple scopes and communicate status updates to leadership.
  • Keep estimate files, calculations, and supporting documents organized and traceable.

Required Skills & Technical Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and construction fundamentals
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (formulas, data organization)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability and willingness to learn estimating methods, cost development, and project controls
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
  • Interest in field operations, project execution, and industrial construction
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, competitive environment

Experience & Education

  • 0–3 years of relevant experience for entry/associate levels (engineering, construction, estimating, project management, or related)
  • Internship, co-op, or project experience in engineering, construction, manufacturing, energy, or industrial environments preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred
  • Entry-level candidates encouraged to apply; multiple job levels (Associate, Engineer, Senior Engineer) will be considered based on experience

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

  • Primarily office environment; must be able to remain in stationary positions ~50% of the time
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear; frequently reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crawl; occasionally lift up to 10 lbs
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings (PPE may be required); occasional overnight/regional travel (<10%)
  • Must be able to work safely and collaboratively in varied site conditions
