Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Materials Engineer (Engineer Materials I) to join their Windsor, CO engineering team. This role focuses on hands-on materials testing, evaluation, and failure analysis to support manufacturing and product development. Relocation assistance is offered for candidates moving to the Windsor, Colorado area.

- Estimated annual base pay: $65,000 - $89,000 (Colorado pay transparency — good faith estimate)

What You’ll Do
- Conduct materials testing and evaluation: microstructure analysis, residual stress, hardness testing, and similar tests on metals and components.
- Perform qualification and certification activities for braze joints, welds, EDM surfaces, coatings, consumables, heat treatments, and platings.
- Support contamination and metals analysis — collect data, identify materials, and interpret results with the team.
- Lead or assist failure analysis for single-component issues using SEM and optical microscopy; prepare reports documenting findings and corrective actions.
- Execute tensile and fatigue testing at room and elevated temperatures; capture and interpret mechanical test data for design and engineering teams.
- Learn from senior materials engineers and participate in hands-on development of processes and test methods.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Basic engineering knowledge of components and material behavior; familiarity with resources such as ASM Handbooks.
- Willingness and ability to learn in-house special processes, engineering drawings, and related standards.
- Growing technical writing and presentation skills; able to prepare clear reports for varied audiences.
- Basic problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical calculation skills.
- Familiarity with quantitative measurement theory or strong willingness to learn technical measurement techniques.
- Proficiency with PCs and standard software; ability to learn equipment-specific software tools.
- Strong time management, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of internal information-management practices and ability to follow documented procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline (4-year degree).
