What You’ll Do

Under general supervision of a Professional Engineer, you will join the Temporary Traffic Control Team within the Division of Traffic Management to support temporary traffic control planning and execution across public right-of-way projects and special events.

  • Review utility installation permits and assess temporary traffic control (TTC) needs
  • Coordinate traffic control requirements with construction projects and contractors
  • Prepare and review engineering plans, proposals, specifications, and small-system designs
  • Assist with plan review for compliance with building and traffic-related codes
  • Support site inspections and provide recommendations during construction activities
  • Use database and analytic tools, including GIS, to manage and review traffic and plan data
  • Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and project documentation
  • Attend coordination and review meetings with internal divisions and external providers
  • When assigned, support or supervise paraprofessional staff and drafting personnel

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Specialization in the discipline for which appointment is made may be required and will be detailed in position-specific postings

Preferred / Useful Experience (derived from role duties)

  • Exposure to temporary traffic control concepts and traffic management practices
  • Experience using GIS or other spatial/database tools for engineering review
  • Familiarity with construction plan review, site inspection, and report preparation
  • Strong written and verbal communication and coordination skills

Compensation & Employment Details

  • Pay: $33.03 – $49.54 per hour
  • Employment type: Full-Time (Regular); Contract classification may apply based on assignment
  • Location: Grandview Heights, OH (work performed within the public right-of-way; assignment locations may vary)
