The Engineer III at Confidential Client supports the design, development, integration, testing, and improvement of advanced electromagnetic and electric power systems for defense, space, and energy applications. Role & Team
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is recruiting experienced engineers to join multidisciplinary teams working on advanced defense, space, power, and energy systems. Openings span electrical, systems & software, mechanical/design, test & integration, and lifecycle/program engineering disciplines. Projects include next-generation electromagnetic and electric power systems and related mission-critical applications.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, integrate, test, and improve complex engineering systems and technologies.
- Evaluate engineering requirements and propose practical, compliant solutions to technical problems.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, test, and resolve complex system and equipment issues.
- Apply engineering and scientific principles to product and system development across lifecycle phases.
- Lead or support cross-functional engineering projects and technical deliverables.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, program management, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Produce technical analyses, documentation, specifications, drawings, and recommendations.
- Present technical findings to engineering teams, leadership, and customers.
- Mentor and provide technical direction to designers, technicians, and less-experienced engineers.
- Support system integration, verification, validation, qualification, and sustainment activities.
- Contribute to development of technologies across defense, space, energy, and advanced technology applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution, or equivalent engineering experience. Typical experience expectations: 4+ years with a bachelor’s degree or 2+ years with a master’s degree.
- Strong understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory, with demonstrated application across projects.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, organize and coordinate work, and select appropriate technical approaches.
- Proven problem-solving skills for a range of complex technical challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively on teams.
- Experience leading less-experienced engineers on semi-routine tasks.
- Willingness to work extended hours as required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is desirable.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance is desired.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for positions that involve certain government programs or security requirements — please ensure you meet this requirement before applying.
Compensation & Logistics
- Estimated salary: $141,240 per year (estimated).
- Employment type: Full-Time, Onsite (San Diego, CA).
- Experience level: Entry-Level to Mid (multiple levels available across disciplines).
- Travel: 0%–25% (role-dependent).
