Role Overview

Confidential Client’s Frequency and Timing Systems (FTS) Business Unit develops precise timing and synchronization solutions for telecom, wireless, military, scientific, and enterprise systems. We are seeking an entry-level Software Engineer to join the Santa Rosa engineering team. This role is well suited for a recent college graduate or an early-career software engineer (0–2.5 years) interested in embedded software for high-precision frequency and timing systems.


What You’ll Do

  • Develop, debug, and test embedded software for precise frequency and timing systems.
  • Participate in software module design with focus on efficiency, reliability, and reusability.
  • Learn and apply precise frequency and timing concepts.
  • Build knowledge of communication networks and frequency/timing communication protocols.
  • Collaborate with project managers, software engineers, and hardware engineers to support product development.
  • Partner with system testing teams to analyze, identify, and resolve software defects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 0–2.5 years of relevant software engineering experience (coursework, internships, projects, or professional).
  • Working knowledge of C and C++ gained through coursework, projects, internships, or related experience.
  • Good understanding of data structures and encapsulated software design.
  • Understanding of basic data analysis principles.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • General understanding of the product development process and design controls.
  • Understanding of computer networks and TCP/IP communication protocols.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Understanding of ML/AI concepts.
  • Experience using AI tools for software development.

Location, Travel & Physical Requirements

  • Location: Santa Rosa, CA (onsite/local engineering team).
  • Travel: 0%–25%.
  • Physical attributes: Feeling, handling, hearing, seeing, talking; works alone and around others.
  • Physical requirements: ~80% sitting, 10% standing, 10% walking; 100% indoors; usual business hours.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual base salary range: $70,304 - $143,000 (range depends on location, skills, and experience).
  • Total compensation includes competitive base pay, restricted stock units, quarterly bonus eligibility, health benefits beginning day one, retirement savings plans, and an employee stock purchase program.
