Position summary
Confidential Client is hiring an early-career Engineer I, Quality to support product development and transition-to-production activities for an aerospace/defense program. This role works cross-functionally with Design, Systems, Manufacturing, Test, Supply Chain, and Program Management to embed quality early in the product lifecycle, perform risk management and root-cause analysis, and support verification and compliance activities.
What You’ll Do
- Support Quality Engineering across the product development lifecycle, including prototype, test, and early production phases.
- Partner with Design Engineering to identify product risks and recommend controls.
- Participate in design reviews, manufacturing readiness reviews, and test reviews from a quality perspective.
- Investigate prototype, test, and manufacturing failures and support root cause analysis (RCCA, 8D, CAPA).
- Lead or support structured problem-solving and corrective action activities.
- Manage containment and disposition of nonconforming material and prototype hardware.
- Evaluate engineering and manufacturing changes for quality risk and help define verification activities.
- Support development of inspection, test, and verification strategies based on product risk (including First Article Inspection).
- Assist audits and assessments of development processes against AS9100, customer, contractual, and program requirements.
- Develop and maintain quality documentation, procedures, checklists, and objective evidence.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Quality Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- 0–3 years of engineering, quality, manufacturing, test, or related experience.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset and willingness to work hands-on with prototypes and test hardware.
- Clear, professional communication and ability to work with cross-functional engineering teams.
Preferred qualifications
- Internship, co-op, or project experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, robotics, electronics, or other complex product development.
- Familiarity with AS9100 or other aerospace quality management systems.
- Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies (8D, RCCA, CAPA, DMAIC).
- Knowledge of FMEA, risk management, or reliability engineering.
- Experience with First Article Inspection, GD&T, engineering drawings, and configuration/change control.
- Practical exposure to design reviews and test activities.
Employment type & compensation
- Employment type: Full-time (regular) or Contractor (details will depend on offer).
- Salary range: $90,000 - $140,000 per year (range disclosed by client). Actual offer will consider experience, location, and other factors.
- Benefits (for full-time regular employees): pay within range listed + bonus + benefits + equity.
- Temporary employees: pay within range + temporary benefits (after eligibility period).
- All offers contingent on background check and any required clearances.
