Role Overview

Confidential Client’s South Regional Public Improvement team partners with local jurisdictions to support public project development and coordinate relocations or protections for utility facilities. This entry-level engineering role works under direct supervision to support engineering plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates, system studies and basic field verification for both electric and gas systems (dual-fuel). The position supports emergency response and restoration efforts as needed.


What You’ll Do

  • Applies basic engineering principles, practices and calculations to routine engineering tasks.
  • Selects and applies standard engineering methods and modifies models or procedures when needed.
  • Prepares cost estimates, specifications and supporting documentation.
  • Performs engineering studies, design work, office research and field verification/measurements.
  • Plans and documents project budgets and supports project delivery.
  • Acquires equipment/system performance data and validates results against design parameters.
  • Supports emergency response, including immediate and extended restoration driven by weather or system failures.
  • Works on both electric and gas systems (dual-fuel role).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, mechanical, civil or other appropriate engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program, or NCEES credentials evaluation. An EIT / FE certificate may qualify in lieu of ABET accreditation.
  • Entry-level to three (3) years of relevant experience in engineering design, preparation of specifications, technical field work, or system studies. Relevant internships or other prior experience may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

  • Possession of or ability to obtain an EIT certificate.
  • Knowledge of engineering economics and analysis.
  • Experience with project cost estimating or scheduling.
  • Work or internship experience in utility engineering or related fields.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $80,200 — $115,800 per year.
  • Eligible for annual performance/incentive bonuses.
  • Benefits package typically includes medical, dental, vision, basic life, short- and long-term disability, voluntary supplemental life and AD&D, flexible spending accounts, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), 401(k) and cash balance retirement plan, Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Holidays. Specific benefit details will be provided by the hiring organization.
