What You’ll Do
- Assist in the design and drafting of fiber routes using GIS, CAD, or similar platforms (AutoCAD, QGIS, ArcGIS, 3-GIS)
- Support field data collection: site surveys, pole and underground assessments, and as-built validation
- Interpret construction prints, permits, municipal right-of-way requirements, and utility records
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and utilities to ensure accurate OSP design and documentation
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including design drawings, BOMs, redlines, and change logs
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, local ordinances, and safety regulations (NESC/NEC awareness)
- Track project progress, support issue resolution, and escalate technical questions to senior engineers
- Provide technical support during construction and perform post-construction validation and punch-list work
What We’re Looking For
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field — or equivalent experience
- 0–2 years of relevant experience (internship or co-op experience considered)
- Familiarity with OSP principles: aerial, underground, and conduit systems
- Basic proficiency with GIS/CAD tools (AutoCAD, QGIS, 3‑GIS, ArcGIS)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, utility maps, and permitting documents
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and solid organization/time-management
- Willingness to work in the field and travel locally (may include site access in varying environments)
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Preferred
- Experience with fiber network design tools or telecom databases
- Exposure to permitting processes and utility coordination
- Understanding of NESC, NEC, and local utility construction codes

Location & Travel
- Job location: Houston, TX
- May require up to ~10% local travel for field surveys, coordination meetings, and site validations
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Regularly required to analyze and interpret data and work at a computer for extended periods
- Frequently move about the office and corporate campus; may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
- Field work will expose associates to outdoor conditions and construction environments; safe work practices and PPE use required
