What You’ll Do
This entry-level engineering role supports the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of utility and power systems. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to develop engineering documents, support project execution, and build foundational technical and project-management skills.
- Apply engineering principles, design criteria, and standard engineering software to support power-related system design and construction
- Assist in preparing project estimates and evaluating engineering design options
- Prepare and review construction specifications, drawings, and engineering documentation
- Conduct quality-assurance reviews of contractor designs, cost estimates, and construction packages
- Support planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of utility infrastructure
- Assist in the development and implementation of engineering standards and design criteria
- Support construction and maintenance teams during project execution and day-to-day operations
- Estimate project materials and assist with procurement planning
- Prepare, review, and transmit construction packages and supporting documentation
- Ensure compliance with company, industry, and regulatory engineering standards
- Promote and model a strong safety culture and safe work practices
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution
- 0–5 years of engineering or related industry experience (internships, co-ops, or utility/power industry experience preferred)
- Motivated to learn, follow established procedures, and take direction from senior engineers
- Able to work collaboratively with engineers, plant personnel, contractors, and vendors
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of engineering fundamentals and design processes
- Familiarity with engineering design tools and software
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
- Basic estimating and project support abilities
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills
