Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Electrical Engineer to support unmanned surface vessel (USV) programs. This role contributes to electrical system design, PCB and harness development, production support, and cross‑functional integration across the product lifecycle. Multiple experience levels will be considered; final placement depends on qualifications.

Compensation (estimated): $61,898 - $160,000 per year.


What You’ll Do

  • Support design and documentation of electrical system wiring diagrams, cable assemblies, and power distribution for new development, production, and sustainment.
  • Develop and maintain technical data packages and bills of materials.
  • Participate in product life‑cycle activities: first article release, test, integration, manufacturing handoff, and ongoing production support.
  • Support PCB layout, electrical hardware implementation, circuit simulation, and firmware as needed.
  • Create electrical test procedures and design/fabricate test fixtures and prototypes.
  • Work closely with manufacturing to resolve production issues related to hardware, wiring, cabling, drawings, and process documentation.
  • Communicate designs and engineering changes across multi‑discipline teams.
  • Assist with engineering estimates, proposals, and assigned project management tasks.
  • Travel to offsite locations as required (0–10% typical).

Required Qualifications

Candidates will be considered across multiple experience levels (Entry through Senior). Typical qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field (level placement varies by experience).
  • Experience or familiarity with marine electrical systems, power distribution, wiring harnesses, or related platform electrical architecture.
  • Ability to produce electrical system design documentation: block diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable assembly / harness drawings.
  • Proficiency with industry design tools (OrCAD or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate technical documentation and BOMs.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance (required).
  • Willingness to work in office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory settings.

Preferred / Bonus Skills

  • OrCAD experience for electrical design and PCB work.
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (Siemens a plus).
  • Prior work on multi‑discipline product development teams and technical leadership on small projects.
  • Experience architecting platform electrical and power systems.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity considerations in hardware/software products.
  • Experience developing products for DoD or other defense customers.

Physical & Work Environment

  • Work may occur in office, industrial shop, shipboard, or laboratory environments.
  • May require climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and tolerating temperature variations.

Employment Type & Travel

  • Employment type: Full‑time.
  • Typical travel: 0–10% (may include domestic or occasional international travel).
