The Engineering Designer role supports the development, integration, and validation of automotive systems by creating detailed 3D CAD models using Siemens NX and performing design integration and packaging evaluations. This hybrid contract position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver manufacturable, high-quality vehicle components across various disciplines, applying design for manufacturing and assembly principles to meet program objectives and quality standards.

What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking Engineering Designers to support the development, integration, and validation of automotive systems and components. You will use Siemens NX to produce detailed 3D models, perform design integration and packaging studies, evaluate fit and clearance, and help deliver manufacturable, high-quality vehicle solutions. Typical responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain detailed 3D CAD models and layouts using Siemens NX.
- Support component and subsystem design from concept through release.
- Perform packaging, fit, function, and clearance evaluations within vehicle environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define design requirements and technical solutions.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to improve quality and manufacturability.
- Participate in design reviews, virtual integration reviews, and technical discussions.
- Generate and maintain model attributes, material data, and engineering documentation.
- Analyze design issues and implement corrective actions to ensure successful integration.
- Incorporate subsystem designs into broader vehicle architectures while meeting performance and packaging targets.
- Create parametric models, assemblies, and virtual mockups to support design development.
- Communicate project progress, technical challenges, and milestones to stakeholders.
- Share best practices and lessons learned with peers and project teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Product Design Engineering Technology, or related technical discipline — or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience, training, or internship in automotive, mechanical, or product design engineering.
- Strong proficiency with Siemens NX and parametric CAD modeling.
- Solid understanding of GD&T principles and mechanical design fundamentals.
- Experience with component packaging, integration, and manufacturability considerations.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting one or more of these component areas: electrical systems, electrified propulsion & system architecture, interior components, closures & liftgates, underbody/chassis/propulsion systems, exterior trim/fascias/grilles, or body structures.
- Knowledge of CAE-supported design and validation processes.
- Experience participating in virtual integration reviews and cross-functional development teams.
- Background working for automotive manufacturers, suppliers, or engineering service organizations.

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour (hourly rate depends on experience and other job-related factors).
