What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level Controls Engineer role supporting global manufacturing facilities. You will assist with the implementation, development, programming, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical control systems for manufacturing equipment used in renewable energy production. Work will include PLC and HMI programming, AutoCAD electrical drawings, vendor check-outs, system start-ups, data collection and controls optimization.

  • Assist with global implementation and development of electrical controls systems/designs
  • Develop, test and maintain PLC programs (Rockwell Logix platform)
  • Configure and maintain HMI systems (PanelView, RSView, PanelView Plus CE)
  • Produce and update electrical schematics and panel layouts using AutoCAD
  • Commission equipment, perform vendor equipment checkout and support start-ups
  • Troubleshoot electrical/electronic control systems and resolve production issues
  • Support control network design, programming and commissioning (ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, Ethernet)
  • Work with robotics teams on programming, safety requirements and integrations
  • Maintain and update process tool electrical drawings and documentation globally
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to ensure controls standards are met
  • Assist senior engineers on larger projects and lead small-scale control system projects

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide global support for manufacturing facilities and equipment controls
  • Design control system logic and ensure adherence to corporate controls standards
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment changes and updated electrical drawings
  • Resolve controls-related production issues and participate in root-cause analysis
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, data collection and system optimization efforts
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and enforce good housekeeping standards

Required Qualifications

  • 1–5 years of manufacturing equipment controls engineering experience (entry to early career)
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field — or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience programming Rockwell Automation Logix PLCs (ladder logic and function block)
  • Experience programming Rockwell HMI systems (PanelView, PanelView Plus, PanelView Plus CE, RSView SE)
  • Proficiency with AutoDesk AutoCAD for electrical schematics and panel layouts
  • Knowledge of industrial control networks (ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, Ethernet)
  • Familiarity with robotic systems, safety requirements, and integration practices
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office and basic corporate IT/network concepts

Preferred / Helpful Skills

  • Familiarity with corporate Ethernet architectures and server basics
  • Experience with industrial data collection and controls optimization
  • Prior exposure to global manufacturing environments and international standards
  • Ability to produce test plans, test scripts and document test results
  • Experience with configuration management and build/integration processes

Physical Requirements & Travel

  • On-site work with occasional short-term travel (0%–5%) for training or projects
  • May sit, stand or walk short distances for up to 12 hours/day
  • May frequently climb stairs; lift up to 37 lbs frequently and up to 58 lbs occasionally
  • May push/pull up to 27 lbs occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently
  • Repetitive hand use for grasping, lifting, handling or feeling objects
  • Visual acuity: 20/40 in each eye (with or without correction) and ability to distinguish red, yellow and green
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.)

Estimated Salary Range

  • $68,800 — $98,050 per year (range provided by our client)
