Position Overview
Confidential Client (Engineering) is hiring a Controls Engineer to join a manufacturing team working on automated production equipment for advanced battery and EV component manufacturing. This full-time role focuses on PLC-based automation, controls integration, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement in a highly automated production environment in Dimondale, MI.
What You’ll Do
- Program, test, commission, and troubleshoot automation and controls systems — primarily Mitsubishi PLCs (Q Series).
- Create, monitor, and modify control logic for simulation, start-up, and ongoing production.
- Work with networking protocols and fieldbus systems including CC-Link and SSCNET III.
- Integrate motion control systems (servo motors, robots) into production lines.
- Implement and integrate peripheral systems such as barcode/RFID readers, vision systems, ultrasonic welding, weigh scales, gas sampling, and robotic cells.
- Investigate and resolve equipment, manufacturing, and facility issues; support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement activities to improve yield, productivity, and uptime.
- Coordinate with internal teams, external vendors, and customers to resolve urgent and complex production problems.
- Provide on-call support as required.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related technical field preferred.
- 0–3 years of industrial controls experience; internships, co-ops, or entry-level roles in manufacturing/automotive environments are highly relevant.
- Hands-on exposure to controls and electrical systems design, automation, mechanical assemblies, or manufacturing assembly equipment.
- Familiarity with Mitsubishi PLCs (Q Series), CC-Link, SSCNET III, and motion control concepts is highly desirable.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and promote workplace safety.
- Exposure to battery systems/processes is a plus.
- Bilingual Korean/English preferred but not required.
