What You’ll Do

This entry-level Engineer Associate role supports engineering projects and day-to-day engineering activities for a confidential client in the energy/utilities sector. You will apply engineering theory and analytical techniques to solve problems, support process improvements, and help deliver safe, reliable outcomes.

  • Perform beginning-to-intermediate engineering tasks and analyses to support assigned objectives
  • Apply analytical techniques to break problems into component parts and complete rigorous analysis
  • Understand relationships between systems and equipment; recommend process or design enhancements
  • Use scheduling techniques (CPM, PERT, flow charts) for project planning and budgeting
  • Prepare technical reports, studies, improvement requisitions, and cost forecasts
  • Coordinate routine work activities and provide guidance or training to junior staff as needed
  • Identify routine and some non-routine problems; propose and implement corrective actions
  • Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders and across departments to drive results

Minimum Qualifications & Who We’re Looking For

This is an entry-level position. Candidates should meet the minimum qualifications for the Engineer Associate level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a program accredited by ABET (Engineering Accreditation Commission)
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and familiarity with planning/scheduling techniques (e.g., CPM, PERT)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to prepare technical reports
  • Ability to work on-site and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Willingness to learn utility regulation, budgeting processes, and economic analysis techniques

Notes:

  • Candidates with a Master’s degree from an ABET-accredited program may be considered for higher-level entry (Engineer level).
  • A vice president or higher may waive the ABET requirement in certain circumstances.

Preferred / Helpful Skills

  • Coursework or experience in power systems, utility engineering, or related energy disciplines
  • Experience or coursework in economic analysis and cost forecasting
  • Familiarity with technical report writing and stakeholder coordination
  • Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills

Where You’ll Work

This position is on-site at one of the confidential client’s locations:

  • New Albany, OH (on-site)
  • Roanoke, VA (on-site)

Candidates should be willing/able to work on-site at one of the listed locations.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Entry Level base: $84,000 (typical for Engineer Associate level)
  • Compensation Range: $74,551.00 - $128,688.00 (grade SP20-007)
  • In addition to base pay, the confidential client offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employee well-being, including standard medical, retirement, and development benefits.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Physical Demand Level: S - Sedentary Work (exert up to 10 pounds occasionally; mostly sitting with occasional walking/standing)
  • The role requires on-site presence at the specified location and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
