What You’ll Do

Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing intermediate-level engineering work and projects that apply engineering knowledge toward safe, effective, efficient, and economical achievement of assigned objectives. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Apply intermediate-level technical expertise to analyze systems and component equipment, break problems into component steps, and perform required analysis.
  • Recommend enhancements to business and engineering processes based on analysis.
  • Coordinate and execute routine engineering activities with limited direction.
  • Provide training, guidance, and day-to-day coordination for lower-level employees or technicians.
  • Participate in project planning: prepare inputs for cost forecasting, use scheduling techniques (CPM, PERT, flow charts) and initiate corrective actions when objectives are not met.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, improvement requisitions, studies, and analyses.
  • Work with stakeholders across teams to resolve conflicts, build consensus, and drive routine decisions within established policies and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and demonstrate initiative to adopt new ideas and approaches.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements (entry-level / associate grade). Final grade and compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required for this entry-level role. (A VP-level waiver may be considered for non-ABET programs in exceptional cases.)
  • New graduates are encouraged to sit for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam as preparation for future Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to apply engineering theory to practical problems.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills: teamwork, networking across functions, conflict resolution, and consensus building.
  • Ability to plan and organize work, forecast routine project costs, and use common scheduling tools.

Preferred / helpful experience (if applicable):

  • Exposure to power station, transmission, or utility engineering concepts.
  • Familiarity with economic analysis techniques used in utility projects and budgeting.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation for the role is posted as a range (final offer depends on grade and candidate qualifications):

  • Engineer / Engineer Technologist Associate: $74,551 – $93,188 per year
  • Engineer / Engineer Technologist: $87,633 – $109,542 per year

Compensation Grade: SP20-006
Compensation Range (posted): $74,551.00 - $109,543.00 per year

Where You’ll Work

On-site in New Albany, OH (this position is not remote). Travel and site access requirements will be communicated during onboarding as required.


Physical Demand Level

This role is classified as Sedentary Work (S): exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, with sitting most of the time and occasional walking or standing.
